Member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front and Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Mr. Jatri Adouh, participated in the Ninth High-Level Dialogue on Gender Equality in Education, organized by the African Union under the theme “Investing in Girls’ Education Systems as a Form of Compensation and Justice.” The event took place on Tuesday at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The meeting was attended by several African ministers of education, international organizations, academics, and specialized educators. The first day featured multiple interventions, elaborating on the experiences of various countries and organizations in overcoming challenges faced by girls in accessing education.

As one of the event’s honored guests, the Sahrawi Minister delivered a remarkable speech highlighting the effective strategies adopted by the Sahrawi state to achieve gender equality in education. He also emphasized the uniqueness of this experience, given the reality of displacement and exile. He pointed out the significant progress made in realizing this noble goal, which for decades has reinforced the principles of justice, compensation, and sustainable development through innovative and effective pedagogical approaches.

The Sahrawi delegation’s presentation on their education experience received widespread recognition and sparked engaging discussions among attendees.

In a statement to national media, the Minister of Education and Vocational Training emphasized that the Sahrawi Republic has a recognized and respected educational experience within the continent, despite limited resources and challenging circumstances. He stressed that education remains a major challenge for Africa and must be given significant attention and priority.

Accompanying the Minister at the meeting were the Sahrawi Republic’s Permanent Representative to Ethiopia and the African Union, Lamine Baali, educational expert Hamdi Salek Didi, and the embassy’s media and cultural attaché, Rgueibi Abdallah.
