Sahrawi Minister of Transport attends welcoming dinner hosted by Ethiopian counterpart for Africa Infrastructure Development Week participants

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) 25th November 2024– The Sahrawi Minister of Transport and Energy, Salec Mohamed Mbarec, attended a welcoming dinner on Sunday evening hosted by Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Dr. Alemu Sime Feyissa.

The event, held at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, brought together ambassadors, deputy ministers, representatives from NEPAD, the African Union Commission, the World Bank, African economic groups, and other partners.

The ceremony featured several welcoming speeches. Dr. Feyissa opened the evening by warmly greeting the attendees, particularly highlighting the presence of his Sahrawi counterpart.

He underscored the significance of Africa Infrastructure Development Week, emphasizing its role as a platform for delegates to exchange views on key infrastructure projects, including those related to energy, digital infrastructure, and investment.

Amin Idriss Adoum, Director of Infrastructure and Energy at NEPAD, praised the Ethiopian hosts for their hospitality, which enabled the organization of the event in Africa’s diplomatic hub, Addis Ababa. He outlined the broad range of topics to be addressed during the week.

Similarly, Dr. Kamukisha Kazaura, Director of Infrastructure and Energy at the African Union Commission, thanked the Ethiopian Minister of Transport for hosting the event and extended a special welcome to the Sahrawi Minister and his delegation, recognizing their participation as an honor for the African Union.

Minister Salec Mohamed Mbarec is in Addis Ababa to participate in Africa Infrastructure Development Week, an event spearheaded by NEPAD in collaboration with the African Union and other partners.

The Sahrawi delegation at the dinner included Ambassador Malainin Lakhal, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Sahrawi Republic to the African Union, and Sahrawi expert Tecber Ahmed Saleh.
