The Sahrawi Republic actively participated in the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU), which began Wednesday 12thn February in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The session served as a preparatory meeting for the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU, which was held on February 15 and 16.

The Sahrawi delegation to this high-level meeting was led by Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Minister Counselor at the Presidency for Diplomatic Affairs and member of the National Secretariat of Polisario Front. The delegation engaged in discussions on various issues concerning joint African action and the future of the continent.

Key topics on the agenda for the Executive Council session included reviewing annual reports on the activities of the AU and its institutions, electing new members of the AU Peace and Security Council, electing six commissioners for the African Union, finalizing the legal framework for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and approving the statute for the African Mechanism for Disaster Preparedness and Response.

The Sahrawi Republic was represented at the summit by President Brahim Ghali, who also serves as the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front.

The Sahrawi Republic remains committed to the principles of the AU and continues to advocate for African unity, regional cooperation, and territorial integrity and independence.
